A popular accommodation for visitors and CP rail crew in the 1890's was Railroad Hotel, owned and operated by business woman Jessie Revsbech. Despite most of the other businesses being ran by men she was still successful, when her hotel burned down in 1911, she continued on and opened her new “modern” Hotel Borden.

Hotel Borden was the site where locals welcomed the first automobile to drive the canyon in May, 1913. Shortly after it burned down from what was rumored to be sparks from a passing train. Jessie lived out her years in Yale until she passed on in 1931 at the age of 75.
