Watch history come to life.

Step onto the grounds of the Yale Historic Site, and step back in time! With its spectacular backdrop of soaring Cascade Mountains, Yale Historic Site’s pristine and peaceful surroundings stand in direct contrast to its wild-west, gold-rush past. Three buildings still stand as witness to a bygone era: the 1870 Creighton House, the 1863 St. John the Divine church, and the 1880 Johnny Ward House. Visit the museum, archives, and gift shop in the Creighton House, then stroll the boardwalk into “Tent City”, and you’ll be transported back to 19th century life. Play a game of cards in the saloon, see the goods offered in the general store, and try your luck at gold panning. Visit the Chinese boarding house to learn about the thousands of Chinese Railroad Workers that toiled on the Canadian Pacific Railway. Enter the grand anglican church, with its liturgical collection and pump organ, and ring the church bell that first rang over 150 years ago! Stop in for refreshments at The Ward Tea House, and if you prefer to dilly-dally a while, book a night or two in the former home of pioneer Johnny Ward. We hope you enjoy your historical journey!
